Health and Physical Education TeacherKACS is seeking a passionate Health/PE Teacher to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will engage students in a variety of activities that promote physical fitness, healthy lifestyle choices, teamwork, and sportsmanship while ensuring adherence to state standards. We believe that a well-rounded education includes not only academic achievements but also the development of healthy habits and physical activity.Responsibilities of Kuumba Academy Teachers Include but Are Not Limited to:Academic Achievement and Character DevelopmentCreate a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environmentMotivate students to achieve high academic and behavioral standardsInvest students and families in the development of academic success and Kuumba Core valuesDevelop and deliver innovative and engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and incorporate best practices in health and physical educationAssess student progress through formal and informal methodsSupport students in developing life-long skills that promote healthy, active lifestylesCollaborate with fellow educators, parents, and the community to create a holistic approach to health and fitness educationTeachers will be evaluated using DTGSS Professional Growth and DevelopmentStay current with trends in health and physical educationParticipate enthusiastically in all professional development, team planning, and data analysis meetingsFunction as a school-wide partner in helping to raise student achievement and character for all students in the school reinforcing school-wide expectations and volunteering to take on additional activities as needed to improve school cultureSkills and Characteristics:Strong instructional and classroom management skillsHigh level of personal organization and planningTeam player: maturity, humility, grit, flexibility, follow-through, sense of humor, open to feedback, and a "roll-up-my-sleeves" attitudeStrong belief in the Kuumba mission and educational modelMastery of and enthusiasm for the subject matterEducational Background and Requirements:Two years of teaching experience highly preferred with a proven record of high achievementBachelor's degree in Physical Education or related fieldCertification within the State of Delaware (required)CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)If you are a dedicated Teacher with a passion for inspiring students to live a healthier and more active lifestyle, we encourage you to apply today!
